Child abuse is a community problem that requires a community response. Multiple organizations within southwest and south central Missouri work together to protect our region’s children from abuse and neglect.
The Child Advocacy Center’s role is to provide a safe place for children to tell their story, and to bring partner agencies together to facilitate a coordinated investigation and a comprehensive response to each child abuse case.
Our facility serves as a central meeting place at the beginning of the investigation, where law enforcement officers, juvenile officers, prosecutors, medical personnel, Missouri Children’s Division caseworkers, therapists, and CAC staff can engage in a coordinated approach to manage each case with open communication, information sharing and collaborative decision making.
We also work closely with other local and regional agencies to connect the children and families we serve with the community services they need to help them through their crisis.
