Protecting area children from abuse and neglect is a priority of the Child Advocacy Center. That commitment is reflected in our day-to-day work as well as our efforts at the state and federal levels to advocate for policies and funding that put the safety and well-being of children first, serve the needs of abused children and promote child abuse prevention.
Thousands of bills are filed each year, just at the state level. In a nutshell, our role is to make sure that children are protected, that their rights are ensured, and that their safety doesn’t slip through the cracks of proposed bills as they make their way through the legislative process.
On an annual basis, we research and keep track of proposed legislation that has the potential to affect children. From that, we establish a legislative agenda that highlights the bills that we will be actively advocating for (or against).
Our advocacy efforts are made stronger by our alignment with the National Children’s Alliance and Missouri KidsFirst. Together, we are a unified force, with the collective goal of keeping children safe.
